Eksangh was not born yet, but the involvement of local NGO women had started by being a big part of Cancer Campaign, organized by Jayshri Rami. On February 12, 2015, sitting in the audience, watching an act on ‘Beti Bachavo’ written and directed by Jimeshbhai , a thought came to mind of organizing a ‘street play’ on “Breast Cancer Awareness” The very next day I met with Jimeshbhai and asked if he was willing to work on creating a street play on Breast Cancer Awareness? Next thing I know, Jimeshbhai wrote up a skit in two weeks. I worked with Parulben on the doctors role as this is the part where the cancer awareness comes in. I wanted to make sure that correct information was shared with the audience about cancer. Things like risk factors, promoting monthly Breast Self Exam, going to a doctor for a Clinical Breast Exam and annually going for Mammograms. It’s a great beginning and a fantastic addition to the Breast Cancer Awareness project in Gujarat.
